Blog V Wiki

Blogs and wikis are ways for communities to come together and share information with each other that may or not be really important. Many people share their thoughts and opinions through blogs. These blog posts can range from political stances to ones opinion on music, the possibilities are endless. Wikis can also be about anything but the difference between a blog and a wiki is that once you post on a blog the post stays there and is unchanged unless it is edited or deleted by the user that made the initial post while on a wiki just about anybody can edit a post or wiki page. Blogs can be used for so many useful things. They can help you find good food in your area, keep you updated on fashion trends, or even let you know about new music you otherwise would not hear about. Blogs could be used by companies to collaborate with their customers by seeing what their customers would like to see improve with their products or services. This is usually done on social media nowadays but definitely can be done on blogs as well. Wiki's on the other hand are usually more informational. You'll usually find yourself looking at a wiki when you're looking for info on a war or disease or something of that nature.

Project Description

For my term project I would like to discuss how social media has changed the marketing industry and go in depth on the positives and negatives of this new media platform. For example, is the way that companies target their audience for ads an invasion of privacy? Is there too much advertising on this media platform or is there not enough? What are the differences in restrictions between marketing a product or service on social media and television? Which one is more effective? Stay tuned for my term paper to get the answer to all of these questions.
